L - What We Have Learned About Portfolios / Electronic Portfolios


  • No, I / we shouldn't be scared -- it will be a heavily scaffolded experience with lots of support from Dr. Y, my peers, and others! (Dr. Y)

  • I learned that we already have some of the materials we are going to need for our Electronic Portfolios. We will not have some of the materials we need until we are student teaching. (Alexandra Goforth)

  • A guide was passed out Friday in class which explains the five categories that make up the portfolio: Content Knowledge, Pedagogical and Professional Knowledge Skills, Positive Impact on Student Learning, Leadership and Collaboration, and 21st Century Technologies and Skills. You can also include two elements of your own. A description of each of these elements can be found on the guide sheet that was received in class! -Samantha Melton

  • One thing we have to include is an annotative summary of all the content courses we have taken. -Hailee Klauka

  • Examples of things that we already have that can be put in our portfolios are papers and other projects in our content classes that show depth and knowledge of the content. A specific example would be a paper about the social construct in Wuthering Heights. (Stephanie Cogdill)

  • I learned that the portfolio will help me and my others fellow classmates in our professional lives. There are things I have already done that I can put into my portfolio. I feel as though the portfolio will help me become more experienced with technology as well. The overall portfolio will be an electronic file that will hold everything that I have accomplished and will accomplish as an undergrad MSL student. -Paige Smith

  • We can use different forms for portfolio. Of course, wiki spaces is always an option, but we can use googledocs/googlesites as well as any other site that Bethany will show us later in the semester. (Jade Garrett )

  • I learned that we have a lot of the things that we can use already, also that it is going to take a lot of time and effort to complete it, it is not something we should set to the side and start the night before. -Kelsey Bostic

  • I learned that the portfolios will act as a great tool to use when applying for jobs and going on interviews, because it is something that employers can look at and see some of the things we've done throughout our years in the MSL program. -> Brittany Waddell

  • I learned that my portfolio can help to create my identity as a professional teacher, especially online. When someone googles my name, my portfolio can show up as an example of my hard work in education! -Michelle Parker

  • I learned that there are many different formats for our electronic portfolios. I also learned that we will have plenty of help getting our portfolios together. (Stephanie Hairyes)

  • I learned that our portfolios can take many different forms, whatever we are most comfortable with, and should showcase our knowledge of our content areas and methods of teaching. (Stephanie Doss)
